exalt = glorify, to elevate
use = rose to the exalted position

mote = speck, small particle
use = the tiniest mote in the eye is very painful

becoming = proper
use = That's a most becoming dress

bane = poison, nuisance, something causing ruin
use = Keeping noise levels low is the bane of airport administration

aggrieved = unjustly injured
use = He felt aggrieved at not being chosen for the team

rapprochement = reconciliation
use = rapprochement between the warring factions
